Miller dead in Sevier County crash
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Monday, a woman who died Sunday in a head-on crash in Sevier County was a Newport resident. The crash which occurred just after 9pm on Highway 411 claimed the life of 50 year-old Tammy Miller, according to Trooper Rod Parton. The officer said a 2001 Chevrolet pickup attempted to pass another vehicle on a double yellow line when it struck the 2002 Pontiac GradAm in which the victim was a passenger. Miller was not restrained, according to the trooper. The driver of the Pontiac, Michael E. Ramsey, 30 also of Newport, along with passengers James Jenkins, 56 of Newport and Lee A. Keith, 24 of Knoxville, all were sent to the UT Medical center in Knoxville. Keith was treated and released, however Jenkins and Ramsey are listed in stable condition at the facility. Trooper Parton said charges are pending against the driver of the pickup, Claude D. Trenholm, 50, of Sevierville, who is in stable condition at the UT Medical Center.
