Taylor indicted federally
A federal grand jury in Knoxville has indicted Melvin Taylor, 41, Jefferson City, on a charge he distributed crack cocaine. Taylor was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley, Jr., where he entered a plea of not guilty. He was detained pending trial which is scheduled for June in U.S. District Court in Knoxville. The indictment alleges that last December, Taylor distributed a quantity of crack cocaine to another individual. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000. The indictment is the result of an investigation by the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
