Brown reports major theft Cocke County authorities are investigating the alleged theft of a quantity of washers, dryers and stoves from the Scott Brown property on Industrial Road. Brown told Deputy Tony Bailey on Monday that burglars in recent months entered a barn on his property and hauled away appliances which he had repaired for sale. The victim says 15 washers, nine dryers, 12 electric stoves, 50 washer transmissions, 40 washer/dryer motors along with 20 compressors were taken. The intruders had broken boards from the exterior of the barn to gain entrance, and then used a dolly to roll the appliances down to a nearby road The dolly was recovered 100 feet from the barn, abandoned in weeds. Brown estimates his loss in the theft totals $12,100.
