Hunting dog killed
Cocke County authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Plott hunting dog early Saturday morning. Roy Clark, Dogwood Stands Road, Hartford, told Deputy Max Laughter he outfitted his dog with a GPS unit but noticed later that the dog was not moving. It was located in a field behind a home on Henderson Road. The deputy says the was blood in the grass, the right front leg had been chewed to the joint and the dog's jaw was broken. Three pit bulls live at the residence in question ,however the owner said she had not let the dogs out after 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clark estimates the value of his dog at $5,000.
