Cook motorcycle crash
A Sevierville motorcyclist sustained serious injuries Tuesday afternoon, when his bike left South Highway 32 in Cocke County and plunged down a 60 foot embankment. The injured cyclist was identified as Jerry Cook, 69, Avery Lane, who was operating a 2007 Yamaha at the time of the 2:13 p.m. incident. Cocke County Deputy Lt. C.J. Ball said Cook was rounding a curve when the bike plunged into the ravine, coming to rest against a tree. The Newport Rescue Squad, Cocke County Fire Department and Cosby Volunteer Fire Department assisted in moving the victim up the steep embankment. Lt. Ball said it was an hour from the time of the crash till Cook was rescued and placed in an ambulance. He was transported to the Hartford Welcome Center and then flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of multiple fractures and internal injuries. Today Cook is in stable condition.
