Sutton/Parker drug arrest
Newport authorities Saturday responded to a domestic situation at a residence on Sequoyah Drive. Landon Sutton, 20, told Newport Sgt. Amy Gentry that his mother and he had argued after she took his medication. He reported that his mother, Angela Sutton, 47, goes to various doctors in different states to "doctor shop" and then re-sells the pills. A male described as Sutton's boyfriend, Robert Ryan Parker, 36, Anderson, South Carolina was found seated on the porch f the residence. A subsequent search of Angela Sutton's auto revealed oxycodone, suboxone and alprazolam, as well as bottles of pills prescribed to other individuals. Schedule IV pills had been obtained from an Asheville pharmacy, reportedly in the name of Parker's mother. Other pill bottles were found from pharmacies in other states. Sgt. Gentry said a wallet found under the driver's seat of the vehicle owned by Angela Sutton, contained $1,220 in cash, primarily in $20 and $100 bills, consistent with drug dealing. Now Angela Sutton and Parker are charged with possession of schedule II and IV controlled substances with the intent to sell, conspiracy to sell schedule II and IV controlled substances and possession of a legend drug. Landon Sutton is charged with possession of suboxone and public intoxication. While Officer Gentry was parked on the street outside of the Sutton residence, her cruiser was struck by a 16 year-old female. Cocke County Lt. Deputy C.J. Ball said the girl pulled from a private drive and hit the cruiser with a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck. The teen was charged with being an unlicensed driver, no insurance, violation of the registration law and driving an unlicensed vehicle.
