Daniels jailed
A Cocke County man was taken into custody Tuesday after he allegedly pulled a weapon on his father and then fought with him. Benjamin Harrison Daniels, 30, Bullard Drive, Newport, was jailed by Deputy Jerry Vandergriff after the subject allegedly argued with his father, John Daniels, and then pulled a long gun on him. John Daniels told officers he protected himself by striking his son with a metal pole, the two then fought and fell to the floor. The 62 year-old elder Daniels says he also was struck on the head during the alteration. Officers seized two long guns from the bedroom of the suspect as evidence,and he was jailed on aggravated domestic assault charges.
