Meth use down in Tennessee
The National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators is applauding the latest results achieved by the real-time, pseudoephedrine (PSE) blocking system in Tennessee. Known as the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx), the system automatically blocks unlawful sales and helps law enforcement officials track down methamphetamine offenders. Data shows electronic technology in Tennessee blocked the sale of more than 17,163 boxes of medicine during the first seven months of 2014, preventing it from potentially being diverted by meth criminals. Additionally, when compared to the same period in 2013, Tennessee sold 18 percent fewer boxes of the medication.
