Dog incidents in Cocke County Cocke County authorities investigated two incidents over the weekend involving dogs. Anna Holton, Deerfoot Road, Cosby, told Deputy Lt. Ricky Holt that a dog which had been hanging around her home, attacked her Saturday as she walked to her car. Holton was bitten on both legs and "a chunk of skin three inches in diameter was taken out of her right leg," the officer said. The victim was transported to the Newport Medical Center for treatment after the 11 am attack. The ownership of the dog has not been determined. Mark McCarter, Yonkers Way, Cosby, told Deputy Max Laughter that he was in the Cosby Church of God on Sunday morning when a male he knows only as Travis, came into the church wearing blue jeans and work pants, but no shirt. The male reportedly was armed with a small handgun which he placed in his pocket soon after entering the church. The man allegedly confronted McCarter about a dog which had allegedly bitten his mother earlier in the day, saying he believed the dog belonged to McCarter. "Travis" told McCarter that the attacking dog was a black lab owned by a man who had a black Nissan SUV. But when McCarter said he has no black lab or Black Nissan SUV, the man turned and left the church. Valerie Bible, Carson Springs Loop, Newport, also reports her ten year-old Boston Terrier has been killed by neighboring dogs. Deputy Max Laughter said neighbors saw three dogs rolling in the ditch, and when Ms. Bible went to check, she found her dog had been killed. According to the complainant, she has had problems with the attacking dogs, a German Shepherd mix and a Boxer, on previous occasions because they will not stay in the yard of owner, Arthur Holt. Ms. Bible said her pet was valued at $850.
