Two Jefferson County employees indicted A Jefferson County Grand Jury has returned indictments charging two former county employees with offenses. The Tennessean Bureau of Investigation has obtained indictments for a Jefferson County woman charging her with Theft and Official Misconduct. At the request of Fourth Judicial District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn and Jefferson County Sheriff G.W. Bud McCoig, TBI Special Agents, with the assistance of the State Comptroller’s office, began investigating Teresa Marie Crusenberry,in March of this year. Crusenberry, 45, of Dandridge, worked as a purchasing agent for the Jefferson County Finance Department. During the course of the investigation, agents determined that around January 2011, Crusenberry started using county finances for personal gain and continued doing so until the alleged misappropriation of funds was discovered in March. Crusenberry now is charged with Theft over $60,000 and Official Misconduct with bond set at $10,000. The panel also indicted former Deputy Aaron Scott Winstead, 20, North Highway 92, Jefferson City, on charges of attempted introduction of contraband into a penal facility, possession of suboxone with intent to deliver and official misconduct. Sheriff McCoig said in June he received information that Winstead was bringing drugs and tobacco to inmates in the jail. On June 25, the sheriff says he observed the officer bring tobacco and suboxone into the Jefferson County Detention Center. At that point, Winstead who had worked as a deputy for about one year, was relieved of his duties and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was asked to assist in the probe. Winstead arrested Tuesday, is free on a $10,000 bond.
