Developers to have more time to complete infrastructure
The Cocke County Planning Commission, meeting this week was told new regulations for developers in Tennessee will go into effect in January. State Planner Dan Hawk said after the first of the year developers will have five years to make the required improvements to their property. Currently developers post a one- year bond during which time they are to complete the installation of infrastructure including roads. Recently many developers have renewed their bonds for extended periods because they did not complete infrastructure work within a year. Hawk said the additional time will mean planning commissions will be required to keep records of when the development was approved, so that those who have projects underway can be evaluated at the end of five years to determine if the bond requirements have been met.
