Ball wants to debate Alexander
The Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate from Tennessee wants to debate his Republican opponent. Cocke County native Gordon Ball, 65, wants to debate incumbent 74 year-old Lamar Alexander because, "televised debates will allow the voters of this state to see the stark differences in my vision for Tennessee and Sen. Lamar Alexander's vision of Tennessee." During the GOP primary, Alexander declined a call for debates from tea party challenger Joe Carr. A spokesperson for Alexander argues there will be opportunities for Tennesseans to see the differences between the two candidates before the November election.
