Girl freed after getting her head stuck
A four year-old Cocke County girl, Monday had to be freed by rescue personnel after her head became lodged between the door frame and a steel pole inside Sally's Beauty Supply in the Newport Towne Center. Newport Patrolman Travis Gorrell said the 3 pm incident brought out the Newport Rescue Squad and First Call EMS. Because initial attempts to free the child were unsuccessful, rescue squad volunteers used their Jaws-of-Life to move the door frame slightly, and free the girl. The child's mother, Dondandra Ogelsby, Halebrook Road, Newport, declined medical treatment for her daughter. Officer Gorrell said the incident left damage of $500 to the door frame and sheetrock over the steel beam.
