NRCS office closed in Newport but services still available
The Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Cocke County Soil Conservation District office located at 340 Heritage Blvd. Newport, closed on September 5, however all services provided by these agencies are still available to landowners in Cocke County. The new office location will be announced soon to serve the landowners of Cocke County. Property owners are reminded that this is a great time to sign up for the various cost share programs of the agencies. Funds are available to assist with items such as watering facilities for livestock, cross fencing for rotational grazing practices, as well as fencing livestock out of streams and ponds. Eva Goodin, District Clerk is available by calling 423-248-8528, and Mike McElroy, District Conservationist can be reached at 423-773-8647, Monday through Friday 8 am – 4:00 pm.
