Weekend assault cases
Newport and Cocke County authorities investigated several reported assaults over the weekend Cocke County authorities say Joshua Junior Stuart, 31, Scenic View Drive, Cosby, was assaulted Friday however the incident was not reported to Cocke County authorities until Saturday.    Stuart went to the sheriff's office to report that he was at his residence when another individual came by to confront him about an electric bill which the victim had paid. Stuart told Deputy Andrew Clark he was awaiting his assailant to re-pay him for the money he had paid on the bill.     He says a male argued with him, and so Stuart said he was leaving to call authorities. At that point Stuart says the other male struck him on the jaw twice.     On Saturday, Stuart was taken to the Newport Medical Center for an evaluation and he reportedly was told that his jaw was fractured.   Michael Ray Baxter, 22, Blade Road, Newport was charged Saturday with assault.    Corrections Officer Tyler Chambers said Baxter, an inmate in the Cocke County Jail, assaulted fellow inmate Steven K.
