Ramirez charged with animal cruelty
A woman who left her dog in her car, with the window open slightly while she shopped at the Newport Walmart on Sunday, mow faces charges. Newport Patrolman Brandon Cassidy said the dog was left in the car for more than an hour. It was spotted by Newport Municipal Judge Vida Bell, who provided water to the dog after officers opened the door of the vehicle. As a result Brenda Marie Ramirez, 29, no address given, was charged with cruelty to animals. Patrolman Cassidy said the animal was in distress and panting heavily when it was freed. Newport animal control was called to the scene and they seized the dog which will be held until the case is heard.
