Royal Spa raided
Local and state officers Wednesday raided the Royal Therapy Massage Parlor on Highway 411 in Cocke County. Sheriff Armando Fontes says the business was involved in prostitution but was fronting as a massage parlor. An undercover investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Knox County Sheriff's Department, Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security. After undercover officers were sent into the business on Monday they arrested Cha Kim, 64, Colorado Springs, Colorado, who is a native of South Korea. She is charged with Imitation of a licensed professional and promotion of prostitution. Officers seized massage tables, towels, furniture, condoms and cash, along with other items as evidence, "which were used for the illegal sex operation," the sheriff said. Kim was an employee of the massage parlor. Sheriff Fontes expressed appreciation for the assistance of the outside agencies saying it is the mission of his department "to keep Cocke County safe and we will not tolerate disgraceful businesses as this in our community. We are a home town community with morals and values." The investigation into the operation is continuing. The sheriff said anyone with information concerning illegal activity in the community, should call 423-623-6023, to speak with the sheriff personally.
