Cameron charged with child neglect
A Cocke County woman who allegedly has not provided adequate care for her children was taken into custody on Wednesday. Suiva Brooke Cameron, 23, Laramie Circle, Newport faces child neglect charges according to Deputy Hollis Emmons. Dale Helms, Highway 160, Newport, told the officer that Cameron brought her two young children to him to care for overnight but they ended up with him and his girlfriend, Lucy Stuart, for two months. The mother picked up the children Tuesday evening, after allegedly refusing to pick them up. Officers went to the Cameron home and were told the subject did not know Helms and Stuart, but they had cared for her children for only one month. An older, four year-old child also was in the home. Cameron allegedly made threats to murder whoever called the police, if her children were removed from her care. The children were turned over to the Department of Children's Services, and Cameron was charged with failure to maintain care and safety for her children.
