Mantooth injured in Wednesday crash
A Cocke County woman sustained non-life threatening injuries Wednesday morning when her car went out of control on Highway 25E. Margaret F. Mantooth, 67, Big Way, Newport, told Cocke County Deputy Tony Bailey that her steering "jerked" to the right as she traveled southbound. She over-corrected, hit the embankment and her car rolled onto it's side, completely blocking the roadway. Mantooth was trapped and had to be freed by personnel with the Cocke County Fire Department. First Call EMS took the injured driver to the Newport Medical Center for treatment. The roadway was blocked for more than 30 minutes.
