Beasley escape arrest
A Morristown man was taken into custody on Saturday, by Newport authorities on an escape charge. Newport captain Terry Lawson said officers went to the Comfort Inn on West Highway 25/70, in search of Joel Beasley, 36, Arnold Avenue. The subject initially refused to open the door to his room, but eventually did so. Captain Lawson says the subject was arrested "tactically." Beasley had cut off his GPS monitoring ankle bracelet, and now is being held without bond on a criminal court capias.
