Thanksgiving travel is cheaper this year
"Lower gas prices this year make it more affordable for people to travel for Thanksgiving," says Don Lindsey, Tennessee Public Affairs Director, AAA. "Americans will likely see the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices since 2008. These pump prices are helping to boost disposable income which helps people feel more confident about traveling." Nearly 42 million Americans will take a holiday road trip this Thanksgiving. The current price of gasoline in Tennessee is $1.91. compared to $2.61 at this time last year. "Motorists are saving around $11 for a full tank of gas compared to this time last year," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA . "That gives travelers more money to spend on lodging, shopping and dining out." AAA estimates that consumers are saving nearly $350 million on gasoline every day compared to a year ago. This has helped boost disposable income, enabling many Americans to travel this Thanksgiving.
