Shell arrest
A Cocke County man who walked away from a rehab facility, stole a vehicle and drove back home, was taken into custody on Wednesday. Deputy Hollis Emmons said his department had received information regarding the theft of a 2004 Honda van which had been stolen from Kingsport. The maroon van was spotted exiting I-40 at West Highway 25/70 at 5:50 pm. The driver, Jeremy Lee Shell, 23, Johnson Street, Newport, admitted he had stolen the van from a Holiday Inn in Kingsport. Shell said he was in a 28 day rehab program in Kingsport when "he felt out of place after 12 days." Shell walked away but got tired of walking . When he spotted the van with keys in the ignition, he drove it to Newport. Shell is charged with theft over $1,000 of the van owned by Daniel Russell of Kingsport.
