Solis arrest
Jefferson City officers Wednesday arrested a grandmother on child neglect charges and removed a number of animals from her home. Brenda S. Solis, 57, was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center. Officers and child protective services investigators responded to the Solis residence on School St. shortly after 9:00 am, in response to a child neglect complaint. Officers found four cats, five dogs and a pig inside the home. Officer Garet Keller reported large deposits of animal feces and urine throughout the residence and "the children walking about with no socks or shoes." The 13 and 14 year-old boy and girl who had no clean clothes, were removed from the home and later underwent a medical evaluation. Sources said Solis gained custody of the teens after their father went into the military. They are currently in custody of the Department of Children's Services. Family members indicated that Solis recently had been battling depression. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control responded to the scene and removed the animals which are being housed at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
