April jobless rate
The Tennessee unemployment rate for April stands at 4.3 percent, down from the March rate of 4.5 percent. The U.S. rate for April remains at 5.0 percent. Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips said total non-farm employment increased 1,300 jobs from March to April and over the past year, non-farm employment in the state increased by 83,800 jobs, primarily in the services sector.
