Woody home fire
A frame home was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon on Highway 25E in Cocke County, and authorities say the fire is suspicious in nature. Cocke County Deputy Jonathan Ochs said he was told by homeowner Ira Lee Woody, that he and his wife, Debra, left the home at 4 pm on Friday to visit a daughter in Knoxville. The fire reported just before 3 pm on Saturday, was battled by the Cocke County Fire Department, but the residence was destroyed.. Firefighter Justin Shelton said Woody estimated the lose of the home and it's contents totals $90,000. A Samsung flat-scree TV which Woody said was in the living room of the home, was found in a wooded area behind the home, and officers said they found pry marks on the back door and the door jamb. Fireman Jacob Wines said he had to cut the lock off the gate so that the fire engines could reach the burning home. Woody said his home was burglarized in 2009 as well and that time also the gate was left locked. Firemen said the doors and windows on the front of the house appeared to be shut when they arrived on the scene.
