Childress arrest
A member of the Cocke County Jail litter crew faces charges after he allegedly stole money from a school classroom. Benjamin Adam Childress, 32, French Mill Road, Dandridge is charged with theft under $500. Cocke County Detective David Moriarty was told by Edgemont Elementary School teacher Jameszina Stewart that about $100 in an envelope was taken from a desk, while the crew worked in the area. All of the members of the work crew under the supervision of David Veridol were interviewed, and Officer Moriarty was told that Childress took the money and gave it to Veridol, saying the money was given as a tip, and was to be used by the work crew to buy lunch. As a result Childress was charged.
