Moore arrest
Cocke County authorities Monday night jailed one man after they responded to reports that subjects were shooting at each other on Raines Road. Deputy Logan Starritt said no injuries were reported. Upon arrival, the deputy saw James Kelly Moore, 27, Sorghum Way, Newport, running from the scene, but he was taken into custody after a taser was employed. Moore was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and Suboxone. A further search of the area revealed a loaded 9 mm handgun. It had been reported stolen in Cocke County by a resident who said the suspect had robbed him of the weapon. Now Moore is charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence of meth, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and evading arrest. The subject also was wanted on warrants charging him with domestic assault and possession of marijuana for resale.
