Stokley arrest
A Newport woman arrested Monday for failure to appear in court, now faces a number of other offenses. Newport Sgt. Donald Coakley said he went to the Beech Street, Newport home of April Stokley, 28, to arrest her on the FTA warrant. The pregnant woman was found hiding in a bedroom, saying she did not want to go to jail. After being taken to jail, Stokley began screaming "I hope my baby dies.....I don't want this f.... baby." Sgt. Coakley said the subject then began ramming her stomach into the ATM machine and the jail wall. Now Stokley is charged additionally with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and aggravated assault of the fetus.
