Evans escape and arrest
A Newport man, in Cocke County General Sessions Court Monday for arraignment, now faces additional charges as a result of an attempted escape. Dillon Evans, 23, New Cave Church Road, was in court for an initial appearance on charges of aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000,vandalism over $1,000 and possession of drug paraphernalia. But when he became disruptive, Bailiff Tommy Crumb escorted Evans back to the jail. As he was crossing the railroad tracks, Evans kicked off his sandals and tried to sprint away while wearing handcuffs and leg shackles. He was re-captured a short distance away by Officer Crumb, and jailed on an escape charge.
