Newport boy is safe Newport authorities say a five year-old boy who's mother reported she allowed the boy to go with his father on June 1, now has been located. Kisha Cross, River Street, Newport, told Newport Patrol Officer Mike Robey that she allowed Scott Gene Bryant, Jr. to go with Scott Gene Bryant, of Texas on a trip to Florida. The elder Bryant was to return the boy on his return trip to Texas. But now Ms. Cross and several of Bryant's relatives say they haven't heard from him. Newport Detective Jason Ramsey says he talked with the boy and his father on Wednesday after they stopped by a sheriff's office, to report they are OK.
