Unemployment rate remains steady
Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced Thursday the Tennessee unemployment rate for June was 4.1 percent, unchanged from the May rate. Economic Summary Over the past year, Tennessee's unemployment rate decreased from 5.7 percent to 4.1 percent. Total employment increased 11,200 jobs from May to June. The largest increases occurred in leisure/hospitality, local government, & other services. Over the year, employment increased by 66,800 jobs. The largest increases occurred in education/health services, trade/transportation/utilities, & manufacturing.
