Shokley arrest
A Hamblen County man faces a number of offenses stemming from a Saturday pursuit involving several counties. Cocke County Deputy Micheal Shelton said he responded to Highway 25E in reference to a vehicle coming into Cocke County after having struck autos in Hamblen County and then fleeing the scene. Another motorist reported that the auto operated by Joshua M. Shockley, 31, Silver City, Whitesburg, was all over the roadway and that both right side tires were flat. Officer Shelton spotted the gold Honda traveling at a high rate of speed, and attempted a stop, however the vehicle fled, with sparks and smoke coming from the auto. The southbound auto moved into the northbound lane nearly hitting six vehicles head-on. Shockley went through a red light nearly hitting cars on Highway 25/70, and he then made a turn and headed north on Highway 25E, before finally stopping at Campbell Road. An alcohol container was recovered, and Shockley now is charged with evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, open container, no insurance and failure to obey a traffic control device. Officer Shelton said Hamblen County has charged Shockley with aggravated assault.
