Cocke County shooting/traffic crash fatalities
Officers from several agencies are involved in a double-faceted investigation which began early this morning in Cocke County. Although very few details have been released, Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes talked to the NewsSource this morning at the Newport Medical Center where he was meeting with investigators and family members of the victims. "We are working an investigation which began at about 12:30 a.m. today. We have an incident involving the death of a child which involves a shooting. We cannot release any details right now. The only thing I can say is that we have a seven year-old child who is deceased, and we also have a separate incident that we are investigating involving a traffic accident which resulted in the death of this same child's grandfather. We are working with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Right now we cannot release any other details." The traffic crash which resulted in the fatality reportedly occurred on North Highway 340 in the Parrottsville community.
