The Voter Registration deadline for the upcoming election is October 11 when the voters can cast ballots till 6 p.m. Residents may register in person at the election commission office in the Courthouse Annex or download a voter registration form at GoVoteTN.com. Administrator of Elections Blanchard strongly encourages those residents who have not voted in a while or who need to update their addresses to call his office at 623-2042 to confirm their voter registration status. A number of voters were affected by precinct mapping changes in 2014, and those who have not voted in several years are urged to call the Election Commission office at 623-2042 to confirm their precincts and voter registrations before November 8. Voters may also use the precinct lookup tool online at GoVoteTN.com. All voters may vote early during early voting at the Courthouse Annex regardless of their precincts. Blanchard says he has heard from several voters who feel that they were adversely affected by changes to precinct and district boundaries in previous years. “We’re hearing your concerns,"he says. "After the next census in 2020, I pledge to work with our Cocke County CLB members to develop common-sense district lines. Mapping suggestions may come from the state, but our CLB will have the final say on how the districts look after 2020.” The election commission office will mail absentee voting applications to all registered permanent absentee voters beginning next week. If a voter is not on the permanent absentee list but would like more information on voting absentee by-mail, They may call the Cocke County Election Commission office at 623-2042. The last day to request an absentee ballot is November 1, 2016.
