EQIP is taking applications from farmers
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program or EQIP, is offering to provide technical and financial assistance to farmers being hurt by the recent drought. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting applications for the program until October 21. This cost-share program is used to help landowners address resource concerns that they may have on their property. A wide range of practices are available to address resource concerns such as fencing, pipeline, water troughs, wells, rotational grazing practice, spring development, stream crossing, and weed control. The EQIP program is also available to crop producers and for wildlife habitat improvement. All NRCS programs are voluntary and offer science-based solutions that benefit both the landowner and the environment. You can call 423-623-8646 ext. 3 with questions.
