Cervino arrest
An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a Jefferson County caseworker with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. In October 2015, Fourth Judicial District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn, asked TBI Special Agents to investigate allegations against Brenna Elizabeth Cervino. The allegations stem from a child abuse case assigned to Cervino, which resulted in children being removed from a home. During the course of the TBI investigation, it was determined that Cervino, 33, Dandridge, filed false reports during the investigation. On Thursday the Jefferson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Cervino with two counts of Official Oppression, three counts of Official Misconduct, one count of Filing a False Report and one count of Falsifying a Government Record. , Cervino surrendered to Jefferson County authorities and was freed on a $10,000 bond. Cervino is also facing charges in Sevier County. Last week a Grand Jury in that county returned an indictment also charging Cervino with one count of Filing a False Report. Prosecutor Dunn said the charges against the defendant "are based on her unlawful conduct in the performance of her official duties with the Department of Children’s Services.." The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in both counties on September 26.
