Newport marijuana arrests
Newport authorities who Thursday were alerted to a drug deal, ended up arresting a car operator and the rider of a bicycle. The bike rider, Norman Gary Hughes II, 34, Rhea Street, Newport, told Patrol Officer Jordan Douglas that he had just purchased a $100 bag of marijuana, and so he was cited into court on that offense. A number of bags of marijuana were found in the 1998 Jeep operated by Rodney Hance, 51, Wind Spirit Way, Newport and his son. In addition the vehicle identification plate was missing from the vehicle. As a result Hance is charged with the sale and delivery of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy and a missing VIN plate. Officer Douglas seized $380 from Hance as well as his vehicle.
