Big Creek Expedition fire
Cocke County firefighters along with the Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department responded to a whitewater rafting outpost just before midnight Monday. Cocke County Deputy Joey Owings said the Big Creek Expedition offices and storage area on Old Hartford Roade was destroyed by the flames. The metal and frame structure owned by Jonathan Henry Feldnerman contained rafts and merchandise. The blaze is believed to have started at the front of the building, however the cause is undetermined. No injuries resulted but Deputy Owings was told the loss likely will total $250,000.
