Paint the town Pink October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To mark the occasion, Tennova Healthcare will “paint” Newport pink today. The Newport Medical Center is teaming up with local city and county offices, businesses and the community to emphasize the importance of annual mammograms in the fight against breast cancer. The community is encouraged to support the initiative by displaying “Paint the Town Pink” signs in their windows and by wearing pink. The community is invited to attend a special ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on the courthouse lawn. The event will feature official proclamations from the city and county mayors, music and complimentary refreshments.
