Lundy is sought after carjacking
Cocke County authorities are looking for a local woman in connection with a Tuesday evening carjacking incident. Kendra Hall, Mineral Street, Newport said she was operating a vehicle owned by Chad Stokely, Estie Way, Newport when 36 year-old Melissa Ann Lundy, Stoneview Way, Cosby asked Hall to take her to a residence on Lower Bogard Road. Hall said she refused to take the suspect because she did not have the permission of Stokely to drive his vehicle to that location. Thereafter Lundy reportedly became very angry, found a handgun in the auto, and forced Hall to drive to her Mineral Street home. After Hall was forced from the auto, Lundy fled with the vehicle and the weapon. Hall told told Deputy Joseph Owings she was very scared during the episode, calling Stokely to report the incident. At 8:14 p.m., Stokely reported he called his phone which was in his auto and Lundy answered it. He later found Lundy on Hedrick Drive, shooting up as she sat in his auto. Stokely retrieved his phone to call 911 at which time Lundy fled on foot, taking his handgun with her. Lundy now is being sought on charges of carjacking, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, theft over $1,000 and theft.
