Chamber breakfast
The Partnership Chamber of Commerce hosted it's monthly breakfast on Thursday. Executive Director of the Chamber, Lynn Ramsey said a campaign is underway to encourage residents to Shop Local during the upcoming holiday season. Jennifer Travis of @Work Personnel Services, the breakfast sponsor, said her organization screens prospective employees and also advises the employer on current employment law. "We are an extension of every company we work with," she told the gathering. Marcy Thomas of Liberty Tax on West Broadway reported that the fire department will not host the Toys for Tots program this year so her firm has picked up the program. Several toy donation bins have already been set up in the community, and other sites for bins are being sought. You can obtain a bin or make a contribution by calling Thomas at 625-9199. A Christmas party with Santa is scheduled for December 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. Kay Archer of Habitat for Humanity announced that her organization is expanding it's scope of services to make repairs to existing homes as well as building new homes. The expanded work is being coordinated through Appalachian Service Project. If you would be willing to serve on the board of directors, volunteer to work or make a donation, contact Archer at 865-585-4955. The Boy's and Girl's Club Annual Auction is planned for the club on Bailey Street, beginning at 10 a.m. on October 29. Judy Moore reported that quality items are needed for the auction, and donations are tax deductible. If you have an item to donate call 423-623-6536. And ALPS Adult Day Services in Morristown has scheduled it's Holiday Marketplace and Festival of Trees for Saturday November 5 and the afternoon of November 6.
