Cosby school smoke
Teachers who arrived at Cosby School this morning found the library and computer lab full of smoke. Cocke County Fire Captain Terry Finchum said a fuse on a power pole on the nearby Hopkins Road blew out during the over night rains. In turn, a roof air conditioning unit on the school, also shorted out, sending smoke through the duct work into the school. Newport Utilities linemen repaired the transformer, and Cosby volunteer firefighters used fans to remove smoke from the school. Finchum said the incident created a traffic issue around the school for some time, because it was reported just as school employees and buses were arriving for the school day.
