Two charged in Edgemont Elementary burglary
Two persons face charges in the recent burglary of the Edgement Elementary School on Carson Springs Road, Newport. Cocke County Detective CJ Ball said the school recently was entered and the intruders made off with an Ipad Air, Ipad mini, Apple Mac Pro Book and a Black Kindle. Detective Ball said he learned that Brandon Shults, 32,Orchard View Drive, Newport, had attempted to sell the Apple Mac Pro Book, but was unable to do so. However Shults did sell the three other items to a female on Action Street. The officer said the items were recovered from that address. The four stolen items are valued at $3,308. Now both Shults and Whitney Cocco, 33, Martine Street, Newport, are charged with theft over $1,000.
