Carson vehicular homicide case
A Cocke County man has been sentenced in Greene County Circuit Court, to a nine year term in connection with a double fatality in Greene County last year. Colin Carson, 41, Happy Hollow Road, Parrottsville, hit a 2002 Honda mini-van, which was southbound, and operated by Mattie Salley, 50, Walkers Ford Road, Greeneville, on June 10, 2015. The collision occurred on Highway 321, about one mile north of the Cocke-Greene County line in the Caney Branch community. Both Ms. Salley and her passenger, Jeffrey Salley, 57, of the same address, died at the scene, and Carson was critically injured in the crash. Trooper Paul Kilday, who investigated the crash, said Carson will have to serve three years before he is eligible for parole, under the sentence imposed by Judge John F. Dugger Jr. The investigation into the crash by a Critical Incident Response Team revealed drugs in a blood sample taken from the defendant.
