Webb sentencing
A former Cocke County chop shop operator was in Cocke County Criminal Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to a variety of charges. Keith Webb, 45, Country View Way, Newport, pleaded guilty to eight counts in four cases. He pleaded guilty to the operation of a chop shop along with the burglary of the home of Cocke County Commissioner Robert Green. The defendant was given a 10 year sentence by Judge Ben Hooper, and 4.5 years must be served before Webb is eligible for parole. Last week Webb pleaded guilty in US District Court, to six counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and was sentenced to 68 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. In addition, Webb was ordered to make restitution to his victims totaling $16,338, and pay fines totaling $3,850. Commissioner Green addressed Judge Hooper saying only six of the eight stolen firearms have been recovered. He went on to say that those who commit criminal acts are hurting the entire county, contributing to the reputation of the community.
