Black crash
Two persons were injured in a Wednesday crash on Interstate 40 in Cocke County. Trooper Tyler Hall said the 2:30 p.m.incident occurred near the 446 mile marker westbound. The driver of the 1999 Subaru was identified as Jerry Black, 57, Haire Road, Hartford. His passenger is identified as Mary Gainer, 40, no address given. Trooper Hall said Black was traveling in the right-hand lane when his auto left the roadway and struck a culvert. The auto then went airborne, struck an earthen embankment and then rolled at least twice. Both occupants of the vehicle were flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville where at last report they were listed in stable condition. The investigation into the incident is continuing and charges are pending.
