Bill Lewis death
A former Alderman on the Newport City Council died Thursday at his home following a lingering illness. William “Bill” Lewis, 82, was serving on the Newport Utilities Board of Directors at the time of his death. Lewis was seated in a chair in his Third Street, Newport home, when he was found by his wife Jackie at about 10a.m. He was unconscious and not breathing when Newport Patrol Officer Paul Weber arrived on the scene. First Call EMS personnel determined Lewis had no pulse when they arrived on the scene. Officers were told that Lewis had a number of health issues, and had a doctor's appointment for Thursday morning. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
