Black charged with contraband
A Cocke County man, in jail on a charge of vehicular homicide by intoxication, Thursday was stripped of his jail trustee status. Corey Black, 21,Suncrest Way, Newport, is being held in the death of Chelsey Williamson, 24, after he allegedly lost control of a vehicle and it plunged down a mountainside in January, 2015. Last year while he was free on bond, Black was found passed out in his vehicle and ended back in jail on his second offense DUI, driving on a suspended license, possession of marijuana for resale, and violation of the implied consent law. After checking back into the jail on Thursday from his trustee duties, Black was found to be in possession of a cell phone and charger. Corrections Officer Lt. Tyler Chambers said Black now has been charged with the introduction of contraband into a penal institution, has been removed from trustee status and is awaiting a disciplinary hearing.
