Cruise Against Cancer
Back by popular demand, the band AM Station will again perform a free show for those attending this year’s Cruise Against Cancer. The performance is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, April 22nd... in the parking lot of Lowe's Home Improvement in Newport, TN. Attendees are invited to enjoy “the best music from the best era of Rock and Roll” as AM Station covers hits from the ‘50s to the ‘70s. Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group was founded in 1999 by Michele Sexton, a breast cancer survivor. The group hosts informative speakers; including oncologists, social workers, dieticians, counselors, acupuncturists and many others. The organization assists patients in Cocke, Jefferson, & Sevier Counties. Grant money and donations are used for transportation assistance, medicine, supplies, utility bills and any other special needs a cancer patient may face during treatment. In addition, an outreach program called "Manna from Heaven" supplies snacks to chemotherapy and radiation waiting rooms at Cancer Centers in Morristown and Sevierville. The Manna program is funded primarily by group members and the parishioners of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Newport. For more information, call (865) 548-6152. The free concert is made possible through a generous sponsorship from from VIP Physical Therapy of Newport and Drayer Physical Therapy Centers of Strawberry Plains and West Knoxville/Farragut.
