Vick identified as fire victim
A Chestnut Hill woman died Saturday evening when her home on Sandy Ridge caught fire at about 7:30 pm. The victim was identified as Diane Vick, 63, who reportedly suffered from medical issues. Jefferson County Sheriff GW "Bud" McCoig said investigators from his department and the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Team have determined there was no foul play in the blaze which started in the kitchen. "A neighbor saw smoke coming from the home and called a relative who lived nearby, and then 911 was called. Officers responded and found the home completely engulfed in flames," the sheriff said. Immediately upon arriving o0n the scene, Chestnut Hill volunteer firefighters called for assistance from Dandridge, Baneberry and White Pine, all responded. A search of the home resulted in locating the body of the victim. "The Chestnut Hill Fire Department did everything they could, to save the victim, but they were unable to do so," McCoig said. According to the sheriff, the husband of the victim was at work in Sevierville at the time of the fire.
